Hello! I'm Toon de Boer 👋
Professionally, I have worked on systems across fintech, banking, and enterprise environments, from internal platforms used by thousands of engineers to cloud-native side projects. The focus is usually on shipping reliable products end to end with tools like Python, Java, TypeScript, AWS, Azure, and PostgreSQL.
Lately most of that energy goes into GenAI engineering: integrating LLM APIs into real products, designing the prompts and guardrails that keep them useful, and running models locally to see what they can do — with the same attention to reliability and cost that the backend and cloud work needs.
Academically, I completed an M.Sc. in Computer Science with an AI specialization at TU Delft, where I focused on machine learning, deep learning, recommendation systems, and MLOps practices for real software delivery.

Sailor — AI Investment & Portfolio Platform
An AI-assisted portfolio platform with an in-app conversational agent ("Captain") that answers questions about holdings, performance, and market context. Portfolio state is summarized and fed as grounded context to an OpenAI model behind a serverless AWS backend, with live pricing via the Yahoo Finance API.

DrillPlan
A browser-based planner that uses machine learning to compute optimal soil-investigation drilling locations. It applies K-Means clustering and iterated local-search optimization to spread points evenly while keeping same-type measurements as far apart as possible.

Senior Analyst - Software Engineer
Accenture
Led development of a regulatory monitoring platform used by 8,000+ engineers at a major Dutch bank. Built scalable full-stack capabilities with React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Azure DevOps APIs, integrating data supplied by other engineering teams across the bank through GraphQL APIs, and improved observability through Split.io, Piano Analytics, and Splunk. Organized internal experimentation sessions with Cursor, OpenAI APIs, and Ollama, resulting in working prototypes and knowledge-sharing presentations. Completed internal trainings in Data Science, Generative AI, Data Management, and Data Visualization while mentoring engineers and interviewing software candidates.
